I've been busy launching the initial 43 CROPS. Seems I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed, but I don't give up. My first Showing/Sale of CROPS is Jan 2nd at First Fridays in Las
Vegas. I rented a wall at the Blue Sky Yoga Studio located in The
Arts Factory and will be selling the first run of Artist's Proofs. A couple of weeks ago, I hauled home 11 sheets of masonite cut to 36 x 24 and 18 x 24, from Home Depot. Working in my garage, I rolled three gallons of primer to the backs of the boards. I printed one of every CROP on canvas, applied it to the board with mounting adhesive (rolled) and coated with varnish (rolled). The large ones weighs 6 lbs. The art has to be framed but I'm not selling it that way, I needed a way to hang in the Studio. I was drawn to plastic hangers for foam core mounted art. They are cheap, disposable, perfect, rated for no more than 1 lb. No problem, must order! Ordered two days ago. Decided that they must hold a lot more weight than they claim. Today a friend stopped by, the first person to see the CROPS other than my mom. Standing in the garage, looking a row of printed, not-yet-mounted art, she mentioned foam core. The next run I'm mounting on 3/16" foam board. It will get me thru now but I know there is another way!
New Years Eve
I varnished my last run of foam core mounted proofs tonight. I haven't been shown another way yet. Still working, waiting and watching for inspiration.
